Mark your calendars for May 20th.
The foundational spark of the American Revolution is coming to the digital airwaves. On May 20th, The Daily Worker will host a special event: a complete, unabridged reading of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense.
Originally published in January 1776, Paine’s pamphlet was the "viral" sensation of its time, turning a localized colonial dispute into a full-scale movement for independence. Now, we are bringing those words to life for a modern audience.
What to Expect:
In the same tradition as our previous deep dives into historical and political theory, this broadcast will present Paine’s arguments in their entirety. From his critiques of hereditary monarchy to his vision for a democratic future, we will cover every chapter of the work that George Washington credited with changing the minds of the American people.
